The Wonderful World Of Search Engine Optimization

By Joe Mosh

Search engine optimization can be very confusing for a newbie, but it is so important for anyone running a website that is trying to make money on the internet. With the right tools and knowledge, you can make sure your website gets high traffic, which will guarantee it is ranked high.

Your page ranks higher if a person stays longer on your website. Therefore, you obviously want viewers to spend time and return frequently to your site, so give them great content that will encourage this.

Establishing a search engine with clearly defined parameters allows you to optimize your website efficiently. Have your search engine recognize specific commands that enables it to return the most accurate results for online searches.

Avoid having pages that are just lists of links. Instead, try to include links as a natural part of your content. Search engines often ignore link pages and readers have no interest in them. Putting the focus on your text makes your page look more professional and makes it easier for search engines to understand.

Search engines are more likely to correctly grasp the content in your website if you use descriptive title tags appropriately. Search engines usually will not show content past 60 characters. If they do show the content, they do not give it as much consideration.

Write and publish new content as often as possible. Set yourself a weekly goal, whether it be one story or daily stories, and stick to it. If you are constantly updating your site with new content, it will be looked upon favorably by search engines. Websites that have a steady stream of new content generally rank higher in search results.

Help yourself by helping the web spiders index your site. Web spiders are designed to crawl your site for keywords, but without the ability to easily navigate your site, they cannot rank your site properly. Create a detailed sitemap for your website. This will allow the web crawlers to index your site with ease.

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds should be integral to your website. When you have RSS feeds and they are updated regularly, they are counted as new site content. This feed can be a place where you post info about topics related to your product. Make sure you motivate people to follow your RSS feed as well.

Try to avoid using a lot of symbols like underscores in a URL. Certain language can confuse a search engine, which is why each URL should have a meaningful name, as well as pertinent keywords.

Your website must be compelling, and offer visitors something they can't find elsewhere. The information contained here can show you the way to increase your site's search rankings, and bring you more traffic than you could have hoped for. You need to implement a slot into your weekly schedule for these strategies.
